Overview

On 10 September 2007, shareholders were advised of Sasol’s intention to conclude a broad-based BEE ownership transaction equal to 10% of its issued share capital.  The detailed terms of the Transaction were released on SENS on 25 March 2008 and published in the press on 26 March 2008.  The Transaction was subject to the passing of special and ordinary resolutions necessary to implement the Transaction and the subsequent registration of the special resolutions by the Registrar of Companies. The special and ordinary resolutions were passed at a general meeting held on 16 May 2008.

One of the pillars of the Sasol Inzalo transaction was the creation of a Sasol Inzalo Foundation Trust.  The Sasol Inzalo Foundation website may be found at www.sasolinzalofoundation.org.za.

In September 2008 participants were allocated either Sasol BEE Ordinary Shares in Sasol Limited or Sasol Inzalo Ordinary Shares in Sasol Inzalo Public Limited (RF).

In 2009 Sasol embarked on a shareholder information campaign to address various questions received from Sasol Inzalo shareholders.  The Sasol Inzalo Shareholder Information Booklets that were sent to shareholders provided a summary of information useful for shareholders to understand the terms and conditions of the shares they had invested in.  Each booklet contained an information section, a section with questions and answers as well as either the Cash Contract (Sasol BEE Ordinary Shares) or Funded Contract (Sasol Inzalo Ordinary Shares).  The three sections to each booklet may be accessed by clicking on the relevant link below:
