Responsible Care® is a worldwide initiative by the chemical industry that comprises six codes: pollution prevention, product stewardship, process safety, distribution safety, employee health and safety, and community awareness.
As a signatory of the Responsible Care® charter, Sasol accords top priority to environmental issues, the well-being of employees and the communities we serve. Measures are in place to ensure that our products are produced, distributed, used and disposed of in a way that is in keeping with the Responsible Care® guidelines.
We work with our stakeholders to heighten awareness of these codes, and improve the effectiveness of our emergency response programmes on an ongoing basis. We also commit to this initiative through national chemical associations across the world.
The implementation of Responsible Care® is one of the key Indicators of Performance (IoP's) throughout our operations. We are targeting a 90% practice to be in place by 2005.
