Sasol turbodiesel™ setting the benchmark for cleaner diesel

23 December 2005

Sasol is reaching new frontiers with its cleaner Sasol turbo™ fuels, giving you more engine performance with less impact on the environment. Sasol next generation ultra low sulphur (ULS) diesel, Sasol turbodiesel™ ULS, has a sulphur content of 50 parts per million (ppm) offering motorists an even cleaner diesel and improved vehicle performance.

Government’s cleaner fuels drive requires that the sulphur content of main grade diesel be reduced to 500 ppm. In 2002 Sasol was first to launch a low sulphur grade diesel. From January 2006 Sasol will set another industry benchmark with its new ultra low sulphur diesel containing even less sulphur than required by legislation.
Reducing the sulphur content of diesel minimises black exhaust smoke and other particulate emissions and benefits both the environment and vehicles. These corrosive particulates form during combustion and are either emitted as black exhaust smoke or are caught in the vehicle’s crankcase oil.
Sasol has successfully proven that by using ultra low sulphur diesel engine wear is radically reduced and oil drain intervals are extended by up to five times. Drivers of diesel cars can expect an extension of up to three times their vehicle’s current oil service intervals. Consult your dealer for more information on the oil service intervals for your vehicle.
Sasol turbodiesel™ ULS contains lubricity additives to replenish diesel lubricating properties that are removed during the de-sulphurising process. For the past 25 years the Sasol fuel research and development team has ensured that the levels of lubrication in low sulphur diesel meet European standards. This allows motorists to enjoy the benefits of lower maintenance and running costs.
Sasol turbodiesel™ ULS will be available at all Sasol Convenience Centres and selected Exel Service Stations. Motorists will also be able to fill up with Sasol turbodiesel™ 500 ppm sulphur at all Exel service stations.
The new suite of Sasol cleaner fuels also includes Sasol turbo™ unleaded 93, Sasol turbo™ unleaded 95, Sasol turbo™ LRP 93 lead replacement petrol and Sasol turbo™ LRP 95 in coastal regions.
