Sasol Water Sense is a group-wide initiative, which aims to align our water stewardship practices throughout our various operations around the world. It is the platform from which water-related issues are co-ordinated and responded to, to address water security risks, regulatory risks and the increased societal awareness of water becoming a scarce and valued resource.

The 2030 Water Resources Group predicts that, based on current growth projections and efficiency levels, South Africa will face a water supply/demand gap of 17% by 2030. “Solutions that maximise the supply of water and minimise demand are therefore essential,” the group states.

By implementing projects to reduce our water risks we are also establishing Sasol as a credible partner in the water sector, willing to work collectively to improve water security for the benefit of all users. Our Sasol Water Sense initiatives show that working together as One Sasol, we can achieve benefits for and beyond our company. We realise that managing water does not have an end point and we will continually respond to opportunities and challenges as they arise. These projects have already made a big difference not only within our own operations, but also beyond the factory gates.

"Water security impacts our sustainability as a business, as an economy and as a society. By optimising our own operations and partnering with communities, industries and governments, we believe we can develop a culture of Water Sense – and make a difference. Because together, we are better."
