Renewable Diesel

WHAT IS RENEWABLE DIESEL?

Renewable diesel (RD), also known as Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO), is a low-carbon fuel produced through the hydrotreatment of biolipid feedstocks such as Used Cooking Oil (UCO) and Vegetable Oils (VO). This advanced biofuel offers a sustainable alternative to fossil diesel, with the added benefit of compatibility with existing diesel engines and infrastructure.

In its pure form (HVO-100) renewable diesel complies with the EN-15940 specification and can be blended with fossil diesel in any ratio from 0% to 100%, depending on final product requirements.

OUR VALUE PROPOSITION

Renewable diesel is a sustainable alternative to fossil diesel, reducing carbon emissions while remaining fully compatible with existing engines and infrastructure.

REGULATORY AND POLICY PRESSURE

  • Customers can meet their decarbonisation targets due to voluntary and mandated low-carbon fuel requirements.
  • Supports the country’s Just Energy Transition.

SUSTAINABILITY QUALITY

  • The customer will obtain a Proof of Sustainability (PoS) Certificate with purchase.
  • The fuel meets low-carbon emission criteria.

TECHNICAL QUALITY

  • Product meets current specifications (e.g., SANS-342).
  • Quality certification included with purchase.

OPERATIONAL COMPATIBILITY

  • Drop-in solution with no switching costs.
  • Uses existing infrastructure.

COST COMPETITIVENESS

  • Uses existing assets which lowers production costs.
  • More competitive than a Greenfield facility.
