Johannesburg, South Africa – Recognising that a growing small, medium and micro-sized (SMME) sector is vital for broadening economic participation, Sasol is driving the development of emerging businesses. Part of this approach includes contributing to igniting an entrepreneurial spirit among the youth in South African through our support of Step Up 2 A Start Up.
“Igniting a passion for entrepreneurship among our young people is part of enabling the potential of South Africa’s young talent. Increasingly, our youth have recognised that they not only want jobs, they also want to be part of the solution to many of our country’s challenges through starting small businesses,” said Justice Magagula, Sasol Vice President for Social Investment.
Step Up 2 A Start-Up aims to inspire a culture and mind set of entrepreneurship among South Africa’s youth. This is by educating high school learners about the tools and resources they can use to develop commercial solutions to social challenges they’ve identified.
“We always promote ways to improve the social and environmental impacts of our business, ensuring our presence brings positive benefits for our stakeholders,” added Magagula.
A strong focus of Sasol’s social investment strategy is the development and support of small, medium and micro-sized enterprises, thereby enabling the delivery of South Africa’s economic development objectives which include job creation.
